RECOGNITION:
FIRST PRIZE

Teleremote cotrol is a project exclusively designed for switching ON and OFF of appliances through the telephones. The limited range criterion of the infrared and radio remote controls are overcome here, since this project aims at switching of appliances from any distance.

The circuit described here can be used to switch up to nine appliances. There should be a parallel connection maintained between the telephone lines and the circuit. The DTMF signals on telephone instrument are used as control signals. The circuit consists of DTMF to BCD converter apart form demultiplexer and flip flops. The digit O in the DTMS mode is used to toggle between the appliance mode and the normal telephone operation mode. While being used for the normal conversation, the telephone could be used to switch ON or OFF appliances.

RECOGNITON :
SECOND PRIZE

The project aims at designing neural networks, which can classify an N dimension into R categories. The neural networks will be designed using

Applications :
Classification of two dimensional ,overlapping, Gaussian distributed pattern. The pattern belonging to class 1 and class 2, which follow Gausian distribution and are overlapping in nature can be classified using LMS algorithm. The optimum efficiency is 81.51%,

The other applications of neural classifiers are :

1.
Spike (seizure) identification in EEG
2.
Speech recognition
3.
Hand written and printed character recognition

DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF FLUIDIZED BED DRYER [TOP]
COLLEGE: BAPUJIINSTITUTE OF ENGG. AND TECH., DAVANGERE
RECOGNITION :
THIRD PRIZE

Salient Features :
1.
This project is designed as a batch process project for a feed of 3 kg.
2.
Fexibility has been given to increase the feed capacity by increasing the
capacity of blower and heater.
3.
This project can be made continuous operator by providing inlet &
4.
Cyclone seperator & pulverizer, in some cases.
5.
Blower by -pass can be also used from the same apparatus for other
purposes, where less amount of blowing is required.

Working Principle:
In this experiment, a blower, a heater, fluized bed and themlometers are used. Blower, having a motor of 0.5 H.P. & 2880 rpm, a fan with 6 blades, is used to blow air to the heater with the power of 2 KW is used to heat the air blown by blower. Fluidized bed of height 175 mm is used with a sieve plate and perforated plate is used and feed is fed here alone. An outlet has been provided for hot air passage through the , fluidization bed.

Free flowing solid of known quantity (0.5 -3 kg) with known moisture content is fed. Blower and heater are put on and waited for some time to get a temp., of 75 -85 degrees C in the fluidized bed. After 10 minutes product is removed, this has moisture content of about .5 - 85 degrees C in a the fluided bed. After 10 minutes product is removed, this has moisture content of about 0.5 -0.8 %. Experiment can be repeated.

REMOTE CONTROL USING INFRA RED SIGNALS[TOP]

RECOGNITION: APPRECIATION PRIZE

Remote controlling of devices is one such area where technology has improved so much that the devices can be controlled from several metres away. Remote burglar alarms for cars: T. V, VCR -remotes etc. are a few examples.

The project attempts to control a few functions of the computer using the T. V. remote The circuit consists of the IC TSOP1738, which works in the frequency range of 30-80 kHZ .It needs only a 5 V- supply voltage and draws a current of less than 2 mA. Thus ,it is be powered directly from the serial interface.

The circuit also makes use of a 78L05 voltage regulator IC. The supply voltage is taken from the DTR and RTS outputs of the RS232 interface, which are connected together via the isolating diodes. A voltage of around 10 V is activated here using a program running on the PC.

If the IR receiver IC receives an IR signal modulated at 36 KHz, it produces an output signal on its middle pin with an active -low level. These output pulses are connected directly to the CTS lead, where must be decoded using software. A supplementary pull-up resistor is necessary here, since the CTS lead has a relatively low input resistance. The signal is also inverted by a transistor stage and applied to the RxD Input of the serial Interface.

Features :
1.
High operating range of 10 meters.
2.
Wide angle of reception
3.
Any RC5 coded Television Remote can be used.
4.
Does not require external power supply.
