J N Tata Endowment
For the higher education of Indians... to lift up the best and most gifted The J N Tata Endowment was set up in 1892 by the founder of the Tata Group Jamsetji N Tata to encourage young people to take up higher studies at some of the best universities in the world. It is the first Tata benefaction in the field of education, and possibly the first of its kind in Asia.

Scholarship programme 2007-2008
Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the J N Tata Endowment Loan Scholarship for the academic year 2007-2008. Scholarships will be granted for higher studies abroad in all disciplines and subjects. Selected scholars may also qualify for gift awards.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants should be:

* Indian nationals
* Graduates of a recognised Indian university with a consistently good academic record
* Students in the final year of a degree course and those awaiting results can also apply
* Other mid-career professionals planning to go abroad for further research, specialisation or training are eligible to apply
* At the time of submitting the completed applications, candidates need not have the admission / offer letters from the universities to which they have applied for the academic year 2007-2008.

Selection process :
After the initial screening of applications, candidates will be shortlisted for an interview in person by subject experts. The final selection will be on the basis of the interview which will be held in Mumbai between March and June 2007.

Prescribed application forms will be available from the administrative office of the endowment from December 4, 2006 to January 31, 2007 at:

The application fee of Rs 100/- can be paid in cash or by a money order on which full name and address must be mentioned to enable the endowment to send the form. Completed application forms should reach the office of the endowment not later than February 15, 2007.
