Common wealth Scholarship/Fellowship Plan 2005 .Canada
Objectives Of Fellowships :
* To promote research in the field of sustainable habitat development for improving the quality of life.
* To provide opportunities to research scholars to undertake advance study and research in areas related to habitat sector.
* To provide research support to bright young candidates for pursuing innovative research for promotion of sustainable development including housing and infrastructure, indentification of best practices and novel initiatives for break through approaches towards better housing , slum development, environmental planning Infrastructure development , transportation planning, disaster management, urban renewal and conversation , financing mechanism for the poor , urban and housing economics.
Operational Modalities:
* Fellowships would be given to research scholars who wish to undertake M.Phil / Ph.D in universities / Institutes of national repute.
* The fellowships would be limited to 2 years for M.Phil and 3 years for Ph.D and in case of integrated programme for Ph.D the maximum duration would be for 5 years.
Nature Of Assistance :
For M.Phil Students, and for first two years in the composite Ph.D fellowships, the assistance limit would be :
* Fellowship : Rs.10,000/- per month
* Contingency - Rs.12,000/-p.a.
* Departmental Assistance - Rs.5,000/- p.a. per student
For Ph.D scholars and for last three years in case of composite fellowship the assistance limit would be:
* Fellowship - Rs.12,000/- per month
* Contingency - Rs.25,000/- p.a.
* Departmental Assistance - Rs.5,000/- per student
Selection Procedure :
HUDCO would confer fellowships on research scholars undergoing M.Phil / Ph.D by identified institutes. Selection for fellowships will focus on the relevance of the research area chosen and its impact on the quality of life. Suitability of the candidate and professional background experience would be considered. Preference would be given to in-service candidates who can avail study leave at least for a period of one yer or more depending on the course requirements of theinstitute / university. The age limit shall be 45 years with no relaxation permitted except in truly exceptional cases withthe approval of the committee.
