ENERGY MANAGEMENT BY SOLAR ARCHITECTURE OFFICE BUILDING

COLLEGE: MALNAD COLLEGE OF ENGG., HASSAN
RECOGNITION : APPRECIATION PRIZE

Aim of the project
1. To put forward the causes of energy crises and try to reduce the consumption by
alternative approach and system.
2. To develop a concept to combine passive solar and active solar in a building to make self sustainable.

Objective
1. To identify areas which consumes lot of energy in a building.
2. To look for solutions which cut down energy requirement during the life cycle of a building.
3. To study the solutions available and modify it to the present situation.
4. To develop an integrated system to solve the problems and save energy.
5. Studying and implementing photo voltaic technology in a building.

Pedal Operated Grain & Sand Sieving Machine

COLLEGE: MALNAD COLLEGE OF ENGG., HASSAN
RECOGNITION : APPRECIATION PRIZE

Generally sand id filtrated by convential simple sieve. In the simple sieve the big impurited sand is filtrate and drawn out the smooth sand. In this process time and strength of operator is wasted because the time id takes in large manner in movement of hand up and down.

So, we introduce ‘pedal operated Grain and sand sieving machine’ in which rough and big sand particles are drawn out by sieve but not by movement of hand. The cam and connecting rod as follower machanism attached to sieve. The machanism is running by manually as padal is operated by operator. Rotary motion of cam is converted in to transiating motion by which the sieve is move in the forward and reverse direction and machanically the smooth sand is drawn out easily. Waste finished, rough and big sand is collected inn saparate attached tank and smooth sand is drawn out in saparate collecter which attached to the machine.
By adding different layers like finish, semi finish, super finish on the sieve we drawn out different sizes of sand like smooth, big, semi smooth and in that manner we drawnout Grain also.
Utilization of Waste Plastic in Bituminous mix For Improved Performance of Roads

COLLEGE: MALNAD COLLEGE OF ENGG., HASSAN
RECOGNITION : APPRECIATION PRIZE

The use of modified bitumen with the addition of processed plastic, about 8% by weight of bitumen helps in improving the stability or strength, fatigue life and other desirable properties of bituminous concrete mix, even under adverse water logging conditions. Therefore the life of the powement surfacing course using the modified bitumen is also expected to increase substantially in comparison to use of ordinary bitumen.
The addition of 8.0% by weight of processed plastic for the preparation of modified mix results in a saving of 0.4% bitumen by weight of the mix or 9.6 kg bitumen per cubic metre of BC Mix. This results in a saving of about Rs. 75 per sq. m. of BC Mix based on the present cost of 80/100 grade bitumen.
The effective utilization of the waste plastic bags for the preparation of modified bitumen will result in substantial increase in scrap value for this otherwise undesirable waste material which are getting littered all over the urban areas. These waste plastic bags will not therefore be thrown out along with the garbage; instead they will get collected and sold by the consumers themselves or other agencies, due to attractive scrap value.
